Sterilized vegetable oil can be needed in a variety of life situations. For example, when you need to process the skin of a newborn baby or make preparations for the winter. In the store you will not find vegetable oil that has been specially sterilized, so there is only one thing left - to learn how to sterilize oil at home.

Instructions

Step 1

Take 250 grams of refined vegetable oil and pour it into a half liter glass jar. Place a jar of butter in a pot of water and set on fire. Please note that you cannot put oil in already hot water - due to the temperature difference, the jar may burst.

Step 2

It is advisable to put cheesecloth folded in three to four layers under the jar of oil at the bottom of the pan, this will also protect the jar from high temperature drops.

Step 3

Stir a little with a thin wooden stick, so it warms up evenly. Sterilize the vegetable oil for 30 - 40 minutes. The water in the pan will boil a little, so you need to add it periodically, otherwise the can of oil may burst. Make sure that there is a centimeter or two more water than the oil in the jar.

Step 4

Do not worry if boiling water gets into the oil, it quickly rises to the surface and evaporates, because these products have different densities and different boiling points. Do not sterilize a large amount of oil at once, it is better to re-cook it if necessary.

Step 5

Allow the oil to cool down after sterilization. Only then can the product be used for its intended purpose. By the way, the remnants of sterilized oil can be reused, you just need to close the jar of oil with a clean lid or roll it up like you roll vegetables for the winter.

Step 6

It is strictly forbidden to sterilize oil in a microwave oven: when overheated, bonds are destroyed and complex fats of the product simply decompose (which is why you cannot fry in already used sunflower oil), and if you do not heat up, you will not get sterility.
