It has long been known that green tea is a very healthy drink, but not everyone knows that its regular use can affect the process of losing weight. Why is this happening, and is it possible to really lose weight on green tea?
What is green tea
Green tea is obtained from the leaves of the same plant as black tea, but in a different way. In green tea production, the leaves of the tea bush undergo less fermentation when, like black tea, they are first dried. Thanks to this technology, many catechins are stored in green tea - antioxidants that are beneficial to the body.
The benefits of green tea:
- Reduces the risk of developing chronic diseases
- Lowers blood sugar
- Reduces cholesterol levels
- Protects the liver from toxins
- Regulates fluid levels in the body
- Strengthens tooth enamel
Green tea and weight loss
What are the "slimming" properties of green tea? Firstly, caffeine, which is part of the drink, reduces appetite, and secondly, its regular use stimulates metabolism. 4-5 cups of green tea "burn" about 60-80 kcal, which corresponds to a 5-minute walk. If you lose weight only on green tea, without any dietary restrictions, then you will be able to lose 3-4 extra pounds in a year.
How to drink green tea properly
But what if you drink not 5, but 10 cups of green tea daily, because then the process of losing weight will go faster? In fact, this is not recommended. Drinking too much can cause headaches, insomnia, and nausea. Therefore, it is better not to exceed the daily allowance of 4-6 cups.
