Poppy filling is one of the traditional filling for rolls, pies and buns. Despite the minimum of products required for this filling, there are many ways to prepare it.

- poppy - 300 grams;
- sugar - 100 grams;
- honey - 150 grams.
- For the second recipe:
- poppy seed - 6 tablespoons;
- honey - 3 tablespoons.
- For the third recipe:
- poppy - 1 glass;
- raisins - 1 glass;
- sugar - 1 tablespoon.
- For the fourth recipe:
- poppy - 125 grams;
- milk - 125 milliliters;
- sugar - 125 grams;
- lemon - 1 piece.
- For the fifth recipe:
- poppy - 70 grams;
- milk - 125 milliliters;
- sugar - 40 grams;
- bread crumbs - 30 grams;
- egg - 1 piece.
Instructions
Step 1
For closed rolls made from yeast dough, a poppy-honey filling is suitable. To prepare it, pour boiling water over the poppy seeds, cover and leave for half an hour. After that, fold the poppy seeds onto a fine mesh strainer and let the water drain. Add sugar, honey and rub the filling thoroughly.
Step 2
Another filling for closed rolls and pies can be made with poppy seeds and honey. To prepare this filling, rinse the poppy seeds in cold water and fold over cheesecloth.
When the water drains, transfer the poppy seeds to a saucepan, add liquid honey there and simmer the filling for ten minutes over low heat, stirring constantly. Chill the filling before placing it on a roll or pie.
Step 3
Closed pie or buns can be quite good stuffed with poppy and raisins. To prepare such a filling, rinse the raisins and pour boiling water over them for ten minutes. Pour boiling water over the poppy seeds.
Drain the raisins, and you can slightly chop them with a knife if you like. Drain the poppy seeds and mix thoroughly in a mortar and sugar. Add the raisins and toss the filling.
Step 4
For open tarts or buns with poppy seed filling on top of the dough, prepare the filling with honey and lemon. To do this, cut the zest from the lemon and chop it. You can simply rub the lemon with a medium grater so that the zest is removed from it.
Pour the milk into a saucepan, add sugar and bring to a boil while stirring continuously. Add poppy seeds, honey and zest to the milk. Simmer the filling over low heat while stirring. After five minutes, remove the pan from the heat and cool the filling.
Step 5
Sometimes an egg is added to the poppy filling for open pies. To prepare such a filling, mix the sugar and milk in a saucepan and bring the liquid to a boil. Remove the pan from heat, pour the poppy seeds into the milk, cover and leave for half an hour. Add crackers and an egg to the poppy seeds, mix well the filling and you can put it in the pie.
