Basbusa is a pie that is prepared in the countries of the Middle East. The sweetness is very tasty, has a wonderful aroma, delicate structure. Basbusa resembles a traditional Russian manna, only the oriental sweetness is more aromatic and slightly moist due to the presence of sweet syrup.
It is necessary
- For the test:
- - 250 ml of vegetable oil;
- - 220 g of powdered sugar;
- - 190 ml of milk;
- - 150 g wheat flour;
- - 140 g of coconut;
- - 3 eggs;
- - 1 tbsp. a spoonful of baking powder.
- For syrup:
- - 150 ml of orange juice;
- - 100 g of icing sugar;
- - 25 ml of lemon juice;
- - 1 teaspoon of rose water.
Instructions
Step 1
Lubricate the pan with butter. In a deep bowl, mix the icing sugar with eggs, butter and milk, beat with a mixer on medium speed (if there is no mixer, a whisk will do too). The mass should be homogeneous. Sift flour together with baking powder into this mass, stir, mix with coconut flakes. Pour the dough into the prepared mold, place in the oven, heated to 200 degrees. Bake the cake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 2
Make orange syrup. Mix lemon juice with orange juice, add sugar, cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved. Take fresh lemon juice, and orange juice is suitable for a store-bought one, but it is better to squeeze it out of a fresh orange too. Cook for 4 minutes, until the sauce thickens. Then mix it with rose water.
Step 3
Remove the finished cake from the oven, immediately fill it with 3/4 of the syrup, cut into portions, cool without removing it from the mold. Use the leftover orange syrup to serve basbus, serve with fresh orange slices - they compensate for the excessive sweetness of the baked goods with their sourness.
