Thanks to the original design, the "Tiger" salad looks very elegant and festive. Depending on your taste preferences, it can be prepared with either smoked chicken or canned fish. Of course, this dish can become a hit on the New Year's table in the Year of the Tiger, but for any other holiday, the Tiger salad will delight lovers of good cuisine.
Tiger salad recipe with chicken
To prepare the Tiger salad with smoked chicken you will need:
- 250 g smoked chicken fillet;
- 2 eggs;
- 2 fresh cucumbers;
- 200 g of fresh mushrooms (champignons);
- 300 g of Korean carrots;
- 100 g of walnuts;
- 100 g pitted olives;
- a few feathers of green onions;
- butter;
- vegetable oil;
- mayonnaise;
- salt;
- pepper.
Wipe the mushrooms thoroughly with a damp cloth, cut into slices and fry in vegetable oil. Then put a little butter in the hot fried mushrooms, salt and pepper and mix well.
Boil eggs hard-boiled, cool under running cold water and peel. Cut off 2 circles of protein and set aside for a while to decorate the salad, and rub the remaining whites and yolks on a coarse grater.
Wash cucumbers, dry and cut into thin strips. If you don't have Korean-style carrots on hand, you can make a salad with boiled carrots. To do this, boil the carrots, peel and grate them.
Cut the smoked chicken fillet into small cubes.
Giving the salad the shape of a tiger's head, lay the components of the dish in layers, not forgetting to coat each one with mayonnaise. Put chopped chicken first, then a layer of mushrooms, cucumbers and grated eggs cut into strips, put carrots (in Korean or boiled) on top. This is the top layer of Tiger salad, which does not need to be coated with mayonnaise.
If desired, the Tiger salad can be prepared with smoked sausage and pickled mushrooms.
Then decorate the salad. To do this: shape the eyes of the tiger from the circles of proteins and olives left for decoration. Make the cheeks with chopped walnut kernels, the characteristic tiger stripes, the nose and eyelashes with olives, the tongue with a slice of smoked chicken, and the mustache with chives chopped along the side.
Tiger salad recipe with canned fish
To prepare the "Tiger" salad according to this recipe, you need to take:
- 1 can of canned fish, natural or with the addition of oil;
- 3 medium sized potatoes;
- 2-3 carrots;
- 1 head of onion;
- 1 egg;
- green onions;
- olives;
- walnuts;
- salt;
- pepper;
- vegetable oil;
- mayonnaise.
First of all, boil the potatoes and carrots separately. Then cool, peel and grate on a coarse grater. Boil a hard-boiled egg and, setting aside 2 circles of protein for decoration, rub the rest on a grater.
Canned tuna, mackerel, sardines and pink salmon are suitable for preparing the Tiger salad.
Mash canned fish in a jar with a fork. Chop the onions with a knife and fry in vegetable oil until light golden brown.
Layer the lettuce to make it look like a tiger's head. Put grated potatoes on the bottom of a flat plate and brush it with mayonnaise, place fried onions on top, then mashed canned fish, grated eggs on top, salt and pepper (if the canned food is salty enough, then salt and pepper are not used). Then coat the eggs with mayonnaise and lay a layer of grated carrots.
Decorate the salad in the same way as described in the previous recipe, using olives, green onions and walnut kernels for decoration.
