The recipe will undoubtedly come in handy for those who love all kinds of pita bread and homemade cakes. You can wrap any filling in such cakes - fresh or stewed vegetables, lentil or chickpea cutlets with sauce, and so on.
You will need:
- flour - 300 g
- water - 190 ml
- salt - 1 tsp
- coriander - 1 tsp
- turmeric - 1/2 tsp
- cumin - 1 tsp
- vegetable oil for frying
For tortillas, use a mixture of whole grain flour with regular flour, first grade flour, or a mixture of premium flour with bran. This is much healthier than just premium refined and bleached flour.
Measure out 300 grams of flour with a glass. This is almost a full two glasses of 250 ml. Sift flour into a deep bowl. Then add one teaspoon of salt, ground coriander and caraway seeds. And 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric. Stir. Add 190 ml of room temperature water to the dry mixture and knead the dough. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and leave in the refrigerator for half an hour.
After this time, roll a long sausage out of the dough. Cut it into arbitrary equal pieces. Sprinkle flour on a board or table, roll each piece on it into a cake. Heat the oil in a frying pan, fry the cakes in oil, 1 minute on each side.
Serve the tortillas with your favorite soup or fresh salad. They also go well with stewed vegetables. You can make all of them sandwiches or just dip in different delicious sauces.
